GNYHA Holds Quality Fundamentals Training; New Sessions in Spring 2022

October 18, 2021

GNYHA’s Quality Fundamentals (QF) training course was offered online from August to September to 205 staffers from 82 member hospitals. Course participants were from multiple disciplines, including pharmacy, nursing, quality improvement (QI), and ambulatory care. The course reviewed QI science and tools using case studies on common clinical challenges. QF educates frontline clinical staff or staff with no previous QI training on best practices for setting up a QI project, selecting meaningful measures, and identifying data trends. Upon completion of the course, participants have the tools and knowledge to participate meaningfully in hospital-based QI initiatives.

Participants from safety net hospitals, large academic centers, and specialty hospitals “appreciated a number of aspects (of the course)—from the multiple dynamic presenters to the engaging style of both polls and the breakout groups.” Hospital staff also appreciated the opportunity to participate virtually and were “blown away by how engaged (GNYHA was) in a virtual environment.”

GNYHA will offer additional QF sessions in spring 2022.
