Representative Clarke Sends Letter to Advocate for Inclusion of Safety Net Provider Investments in Infrastructure Legislation

June 22, 2021

Representative Yvette Clarke (D-NY) sent a letter (attached) to request that Congressional leaders include support for safety net hospitals and health care providers in New York and across the country in upcoming infrastructure legislation. Nine members of the New York House delegation with districts in New York City signed the letter.

The letter highlights the drastic inequities experienced by marginalized communities during the COVID-19 pandemic, which demonstrates the need for health care provider infrastructure investments. The letter also explains that additional Federal funding would allow safety net providers to conduct long-deferred facility upgrades and modernizations and improve their ability to deliver high-quality, equitable care. It would also bolster the nation’s health care infrastructure.

GNYHA is grateful to Representative Clarke for sending this letter and for her support for safety net institutions. Please see her tweet on the letter here.
