CDC Recommends COVID-19 Vaccine for Young Children

June 22, 2022

On June 18, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommended that children ages six months through five should receive a COVID-19 vaccine (either Pfizer BioNTech or Moderna) to better protect them from the disease. All children, including those who have already had COVID-19, should be vaccinated.

The New York State Department of Health (DOH) is urging providers to proceed with vaccinating children ages six months through five and to not await amendments to existing guidance. DOH encourages providers to monitor this webpage where amended guidance will be published as available.
