Albany Responds to Supreme Court Rulings

June 24, 2022

The Assembly and Senate gaveled out earlier this month, but US Supreme Court decisions this week striking down New York State’s restrictions on concealed weapons and Roe. vs. Wade have spurred Albany leaders to action.

This morning, Governor Hochul said she would call the Assembly and Senate back next week for a special session to address gun control. GNYHA will work with our partners in Albany to develop an appropriate response to the Supreme Court decision that protects New Yorkers, including when they seek hospital services. The Legislature passed bills on abortion rights in June, but it is possible they will advance additional bills in this area. A special session would also provide an opportunity for the Legislature to take up unrelated legislation.
