Roxanne Tena-Nelson, Esq., Senior Advisor, Government Affairs, Continuing Care, joined GNYHA in 1999 and focuses on long term care (LTC) policy issues. Ms. Tena-Nelson provides a range of advocacy and consultative services for GNYHA’s continuing care members. During her time at GNYHA, including serving as the Interim President/Senior Advisor and Special Counsel for the Continuing Care Leadership Coalition, she has developed expertise on a broad array of LTC policy issues: emergency preparedness, quality improvement, care coordination, home and community-based services, health information technology, and LTC reform, corporate compliance practices, and other legal and regulatory issues. Prior to working at GNYHA, Ms. Tena-Nelson held policy positions for a Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), UPMC, the World Health Organization, and the Filipino Community Law Center. Ms. Tena-Nelson earned a Juris Doctor and Master of Public Health from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and Graduate School of Public Health, and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations–Multicultural and Regional Studies from The Johns Hopkins University.
