The Senate Finance Committee held a hearing on June 24 to consider several nominees, including Health and Human Services (HHS) Assistant Secretary for Legislation nominee Melanie Egorin, PhD. House Ways and Means Committee Chair Richard Neal (D-MA) introduced Dr. Egorin, who most recently served as the Deputy Health Staff Director for the Ways and Means Committee, and emphasized her breadth of expertise and ability to work across the aisle (Chairman Neal’s remarks are available here).
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Office of the Administrator added Jonathan Blum as Principal Deputy Administrator and Erin Richardson as Chief of Staff. CMS also announced that Daniel Tsai will join the agency as the Director for Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program Services on July 6.
