Mayor Adams Rolls Out Gun Violence, Antiviral Initiatives

February 7, 2022

President Joe Biden met with Mayor Eric Adams in New York City on Thursday to discuss methods to combat gun violence. The President called for more Federal investment in law enforcement, and the Mayor proposed greater community-based efforts and precision policing efforts to curtail gun violence. Earlier this week, GNYHA signed onto an open letter in support of Mayor Adams’ efforts to make the City safer.

The Mayor also announced this week that the City has acquired and will distribute antiviral pills at no cost to any City resident who has tested posted for COVID-19 and is at risk of serious illness. The Mayor previously said this would be part of his pandemic response.
