GNYHA hosted a presentation and discussion on a recently completed research study funded in part by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority on airflow and ventilation practices in operating rooms. Fred Betz from NeuMod Labs and Professor Ehsan Mousavi from Clemson University detailed their analysis of operating room ventilation data—including air-change rates, differential pressure, and room size—and its relationship to surgical site infection rates. They also discussed the study’s implications for ventilation standards, facility management, and hospital energy use.
