Code Blue Sheltering/Warming Bus Resources

If an individual experiencing homelessness presents to your hospital emergency department, does not need immediate medical care, and requests or accepts DHS services, please call the DSS/DHS Joint Command Center (JCC) at 212-607-6040 or e-mail shccc@dhs.nyc.gov. The staff at the JCC will be available to triage with hospital staff 24 hours a day.

During Code Blue, the JCC reaches out to the Administrator On Duty (AOD) at following hospitals to check in on conditions, address issues and find out if clients are in the waiting areas:

• Harlem
• Coney Island
• Kings County

Service Bus Locations

We operate “service and support buses” outside of four city hospitals (and Penn Station) to provide unsheltered individuals with temporary respite from outdoor conditions at night.  Staff are on-site at the buses to engage each individual around the range of services available to them.
