On World AIDS Day, GNYHA Health Information Tool for Empowerment (HITE) staff participated in two virtual events, World AIDS Day 2020: Rock Your Ribbon, hosted by the Nassau County Commission on Human Rights, and the Story of Ending the Epidemic: Past, Present, and Future, hosted by the End AIDS NY 2020 Coalition, the New York State Department of Health, and the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. HITE is GNYHA’s free, publicly available directory of more than 6,000 free or low-cost community resources located in New York City, Long Island, and Westchester County. At both events, HITE staff reviewed programs and services available for people living with HIV/AIDS. The events also featured panel discussions on equity, access, and the latest medical advancements in the study and science of HIV/AIDS.
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, GNYHA has regularly updated HITE to ensure that it is up-to-date on new, modified, and closed programs and services. HITE added a COVID-19 testing locator page, which is regularly maintained. HITE has also transitioned its outreach activities to virtual, which has allowed engagement with community coalitions and other community meetings.
