Infrastructure funding remains one of the few areas on Capitol Hill with broad bipartisan support. Hospitals are a vital part of the deteriorating national infrastructure and should be included in any infrastructure-related legislation that Congress passes. GNYHA has met with lawmakers on both sides of the aisle in recent months, including Congressional leadership, to share a proposal that details three priorities to bolster hospital infrastructure: access to capital, funding for health information technology (HIT) improvements, and funding for health care workforce programs. Our proposal can be found here.
GNYHA’s Congressional outreach has focused on members of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. When the Committee solicited information on the nation’s infrastructure needs several weeks ago, GNYHA submitted a comment letter that can be found here.
In 2016, then-President-elect Trump stated that his administration would “fix our inner cities and rebuild our highways, bridges, tunnels, airports, schools, (and) hospitals.”
