At GNYHA’s Annual Meeting and Reception on May 16 at the Jacob Javits Center’s River Pavilion in Manhattan, Susan C. Waltman, Esq., GNYHA’s Executive Vice President, Legal, Regulatory, and Professional Affairs, presided over the installation of GNYHA’s 2019-2020 Board of Governors and Officers.
Outgoing GNYHA Board Chair John Collins, President and CEO of NYU Winthrop Hospital, thanked the Board and GNYHA for their support during his tenure.
Incoming GNYHA Board Chair Alan Guerci, MD, President and CEO of Catholic Health Services of Long Island, said he would strive to emulate the leadership of past Board Chairs during the challenging year ahead.
NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital President and CEO Steven Corwin, MD, and One Brooklyn Health President and CEO LaRay Brown unveiled Health Care Counts 2020, a partnership between GNYHA and the Association for a Better New York. Health Care Counts 2020 will encourage the health care community to do its part to prevent an undercount in the 2020 Census.
In his annual address, GNYHA President Kenneth E. Raske discussed a memorandum of opposition from him and 1199SEIU United Workers East President George Gresham that is part of a grassroots advocacy effort against a bill that would allow insurers to take hospital out-of-network emergency bills to an independent dispute resolution agent.
