GME Committee Program Concludes with Member Best Practices

June 20, 2023

GNYHA has concluded its two-part webinar program on the requirements for teaching institutions to have a Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC). To maintain accreditation, teaching institutions must comply with Accreditation Council for GME (ACGME) requirements, including those related to the institution’s GMEC. ACGME Requirements for the GME Committee was designed for GME leadership and legal affairs representatives involved in the institution’s process for maintaining GME accreditation.

On June 7, attorneys from Nixon Peabody LLP reviewed ACGME’s GMEC requirements and potential citations and shared strategies on how to avoid and respond to them. On June 14, a panel comprising GME leadership from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, Maimonides Medical Center, Memorial Hospital for Cancer and Allied Diseases, and the University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine discussed best practices for GMEC requirements. GNYHA will continue to develop programming to help member teaching hospitals comply with ACGME requirements. Program materials are available for the June 7 and June 14 events.
