SHRPC Update

At its meeting on December 6, the State Hospital Review and Planning Council (SHRPC) approved, in some cases with conditions or contingencies, the following GNYHA member projects: Mount Sinai Hospital, certification and construction of a sixth cardiac catheterization laboratory with requisite renovations; Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center, relocation of its adult ambulatory care and outpatient services to a newly constructed facility on the hospital campus; Montefiore Medical Center, acquisition of Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center and addition of its inpatient beds and related hospital services to Montefiore’s current operating certificate as part of Our Lady of Mercy’s approved bankruptcy plans for sale of its assets; Crouse Hospital, construction of additions and renovations to the existing facility; and St. Mary’s Rehabilitation Center for Children, transfer of ownership to MSAF Group, LLC, d/b/a Sunshine Children’s Home and Rehabilitation Center, a proposed for-profit limited liability company. In order to fulfill the mandate of the Commission on Health Care Facilities in the 21st Century (the “Berger Commission”), SHRPC also approved the establishment of Health Alliance Planning, Inc. as the active parent and co-operator of Kingston Hospital, Benedictine Hospital, and Margaretville Memorial Hospital and the establishment and construction of Foxhall Ambulatory Surgery Center, a multi-specialty, freestanding ambulatory surgery center that will be constructed on Kingston Hospital’s land and will be owned by Foxhall Ambulatory Surgery Center, which will enter into a management services agreement with Kingston Hospital. The project was approved for a five-year period (a “five-year limited life”).
