Dr. Shlom joined the GNYHA Services, Inc. staff in 1995 to launch the Clinical Pharmacy Program. Under Dr. Shlom's direction, the GNYHA Services Clinical Pharmacy Program provides a range of value-added services to pharmacy group purchasing members. Some services include networking forums, educational programs, benchmarking and the sharing of "best practice" principles for cost-effective patient care. Other programs offered to member institutions include newsletters, medication safety forums, drug class and medication safety white papers, and assistance to hospital networks undergoing the formulary standardization process. Dr. Shlom also works closely with Premier's Clinical Pharmacy group and acts as a liaison in delivering Premier's programs to GNYHA Services member institutions. Prior to starting at GNYHA Services, she was the Assistant Director of Clinical Pharmacy Services at Bridgeport Hospital in Connecticut and had previously worked at St. Luke's/Roosevelt Medical Center in New York City. Dr. Shlom received her PharmD and Bachelor of Science degrees from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science and completed clinical pharmacy residencies at Duke University Medical Center in North Carolina and the UCSF Medical Center in California.
