GNYHA is committed to helping its members in their efforts to comply with the privacy and security regulations of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). The Association has held numerous educational briefings and meetings, provided regulatory guidance and comments, and developed special cost-sharing arrangements, such as the GNYHA HIPAA Consortiums. This online HIPAA resource area reflects these comprehensive efforts, and serves as a centralized resource for HIPAA privacy and security information.

Beginning in July 2008, the HIPAA Privacy and Security Workgroups began meeting together to discuss current issues and member concerns.
