Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA)

  • GNYHA is committed to helping its members in their efforts to comply with the privacy and security regulations of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). The Association has held numerous educational briefings and meetings, provided regulatory guidance and comments, and developed special cost-sharing arrangements, such as the GNYHA HIPAA Consortiums. This online HIPAA resource area reflects these comprehensive efforts, and serves as a centralized resource for HIPAA privacy and security information.
  • GNYHA is undertaking several initiatives to facilitate implementation of the HIPAA Transaction and Code Set standards. This resource area includes up-to-date information on GNYHA HIPAA Transaction Set workgroup and briefing series activities and products, as well as links to outside resources.
