American Psychiatric Association: Disaster Psychiatry
The American Psychiatric Association has written a guidebook for mental health practitioners and their communities in planning and preparing a mental health response plan to a disaster. The guidebook includes lessons learned from the Oklahoma City bombimg and guidance for planning a community response with available partners and assets.
American Psychological Association
APA's Help Center is an online resource for brochures, tips and articles on the psychological issues that affect your physical and emotional well-being, as well as information about referrals.
CDC: Emergency Preparedness and Response: Mental Health Survey Instrument
The CDC Web site provides a survey instrument that can be used to assess anxiety, depression, acute and post-traumatic stress disorders, and problematic drinking. Core data elements can be changed by mental health practitioners to accommodate a particular traumatic event and provider needs.
LifeNet
The Mental Health Association of New York City and the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene have organized and funded LifeNet, a crisis information and referral program that is a free community service.
National Center for PTSD: "Disaster Mental Health Services: A Guidebook for Clinicians and Administrators"
This guidebook has diagnostic tools, clinical techniques, and teaching tools for organizations involved in all phases of disaster mental health services.
National Mental Health Association: Coping with Disaster
The Mental Health Association link provides fact sheets for coping with war and terrorism as well as natural disasters that may result in psychological stress.
SAMHSA's National Mental Health Center: Disaster/Trauma
The United States Department of Health and Human Services - Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration National Mental Health Information Center has organized various resources available on the Web for individual mental health practitioners, mental health organizations, and communities.

This manual is intended for mental health workers and other human service providers who assist survivors following a disaster and provides strategies for worker stress prevention.
SAMHSA's National Mental Health Center: "Mental Health Response to Mass Violence and Terrorism: A Training Manual"
This training manual seeks to present mental health service providers with a comprehensive and informative resource for assisting terrorism and mass violence victims and affected members of the communities in which acts occur.
